This wine is an iron fist in a velvet glove. The ‘Piaggione’ is a single-vineyard Brunello that is packed with complex fruit flavors and smooth tannins. This is an exceptional vintage for Brunello made by a rising star in the region.

Podere Salicutti is a pioneering force in Tuscany’s Montalcino region. They were the first estate in the region to gain organic certification, and shortly after, began paving the way for aspiring biodynamic farmers as well. The winery was founded by Francesco Leanza back in 1990, and today, is operated by Felix and Sabine Eichbauer. The estate comprises 11 hectares, of which just 4.5 are dedicated to vines. All fruit at Salicutti is hand harvested, sorted in the vineyard, and fermented in open-top stainless steel containers with native yeasts. Aging begins in neutral French toneaux and eventually finishes in larger oak casks. 

Salicutti wines are known for their elegance, transparency, and traditional flavor profiles. A mere 2,500 cases of their wines are produced annually, making them some of the most sought after bottles of Brunello on the market. We are so lucky to work with these small-batch wines that truly reflect their unique sense of place. Despite their drinkability in their youth, the wines are most definitely able to withstand the test of times – so if possible, we recommend grabbing a few of these coveted bottles when possible!
