A Barbaresco native, Giuseppe Cortese began working alongside his father, Giacomo, at a young age. As he became more familiar with his land, Giuseppe began refocusing the family estate’s direction by improving vinification methods and purchasing new land. The estate remains all in the family today, with Giuseppe at the helm of it all.

The Cortese’s winery is located in the small village of Rabajà, located in the prestigious Barbaresco region of Piedmont. Their 20 acres are dedicated mostly to Nebbiolo, with smidges of Dolcetto and Barbera cultivated for good measure. The estate’s vinification style is best described as traditional meets modern, with an emphasis on generations-long know-how on farming the region’s signature Nebbiolo grape. Each lot is farmed and vinified differently, and various sized aging vessels are housed in the family’s cellars. Cortese wines are known for their depth, balance, and sheer elegance, the latter of which only gets better and better with time.
