Christopher Ferrandis was born in Marseilles to a family with strong roots in Corsica. After working for several years at Domaine Pibarnon in Bandol, he moved to Corsica where he worked as a consultant for a cooperative. In 2001, with help from his uncle who grew up in Corsica, Christopher was able to find a few hectares of old vines and establish his own domaine. Clos Signadore is located in Poggio d’Oletta, within the inland mountainous part of the Patrimonio AOC. The Clos is planted with 40-year-old Niellucciu vines, the local red grape of Corsica, closely related to Sangiovese. In addition, there is also a small amount of “Vermentinu” for the white wines. The vines are divided among four distinct terroirs, which blend together to make a sum greater than the parts. Since the domaine was created, they have avoided the use of chemicals in the vineyards. They only use mechanical weeding, and no chemical products are sprayed on the soil. The domaine has been certified organic since 2010.

“In 2020, Lexi and I met Christopher and tasted his wines for the first time during a trip to Burgundy. We were instantly blown away by the precision in his wines. In a lineup of mostly Burgundys, Christopher’s wines didn’t just hold their own, they were actually better and more complex than many of the Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. We knew right away that we wanted to import Clos Signadore to CA and showcase the serious potential Corsican wines. It is a region to look out for!” – Margaux, co-founder
