100% Prié Blanc from Valle d’Aosta. Prié is an indigenous grape to the Italian Alps and it’s found nowhere else in the world.

This is a thirst-quenching Après Ski! It is a stunning wine from the highest elevation vineyard in all of Europe. It’s an austere, racy, mineral-driven white that displays aromas of citrus blossom, lemon, mountain herbs and crushed stone from the sandy, glacial moraine soil. The palate has vivacity and length.

Ermes Pavese is a youthful grower in the commune of La Ruine, just outside of the town of Morgex, in the high Alps minutes from the summit of Mont Blanc. Pavese works the native grape known as Prié Blanc. Starting with barely two hectares of vineyards, situated at about 1200 meters above sea level, Pavese has gradually expanded his holdings in this high altitude zone. He now produces three versions of Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle.

Prié is the oldest documented cultivar in the Val d’Aoste, and is among the oldest in all of Italy. Genetic parent to, among others, Prëmetta and Mayolet, it gives crystalline wines of vivacity and precision when tended by a conscientious grower like Pavese. Pavese’s vines, trained in the traditional Pergola Bassa system, are so isolated at the end of this valley that they are still planted on their original rootstocks, not threatened by the Phylloxera louse that devastated nearly all of Europe’s vineyards at the end of the 19th century. Producing still, sparkling, skin-macerated and sweet wines, this domaine shows the majesty that wines of the alps can achieve.
