7 Sommelier-Approved Rosé Wine Pairings

Summer called. Bring the rosé.

The rules for pairing rosé are looser than people think — it's one of the most food-friendly bottles you can open. What you're looking for is balance: bright acidity to cut through rich flavors, enough fruit to complement lighter ones, and enough versatility to work with whatever comes off the grill or out of the kitchen.

Here are seven of our favorite pairings. Think of them as a starting point for the table.

1. Seafood Pasta

The acidity is doing the heavy lifting here, cutting through the richness of the pasta and seafood. A Swordfish Pappardelle with lemon, tomatillo, and Dijon is bold enough to hold up, and the rosé washes through beautifully between bites.

2. Watermelon Chaat

The heat from the serrano chiles and the sweetness of the watermelon are exactly what a dry rosé is built to balance. Fresh mint and lime push the wine's fruit notes forward in the best way.

3. Margaux's Halibut Ceviche

This one comes from Argaux co-founder Margaux herself. The lime, orange, jalapeño, and avocado in the ceviche make rosé's crisp acidity sing — a summery combination that works anywhere the sun is out.

4. Pan con Tomate

A simple aperitivo appetizer with a lot of flavor, served with a rosé on a cheeseboard. The tomato's brightness and the bread's toasty base are just right alongside a chilled glass.

5. Grilled Summer Vegetables

Zucchini, bell peppers, summer squash, onions, cauliflower with olive oil, garlic, thyme, and rosemary — and a bottle of cold rosé on the side. This is what summer evenings are supposed to look like.

6. Peperonata on Country Bread

Tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, onions, and garlic cooked slow until everything comes together. A dry Provence rosé complements the herbal depth and keeps everything feeling light.

7. Classic Cheeseboard

Rosé is the easiest wine to build a board around. Brie, goat cheese, aged cheddar, whatever fruit you have, nuts, olives — it works with all of them. Start here when you're not sure where else to start.
