Marlborough, New Zealand to a Sauvy B TEE!
This wine is all about bright flavors of melon guava, green herbs, grass, passionfruit and just a hint of pineapple on the finish. It’s racy and fresh. The flavor lingers, but the wine goes down fast.
The 2020 vintage is from two vineyards that are quintessential Marlborough show casing the Awatere Valley’s nettles, snow pea, citrus, salty, vibrancy with the Wairau valleys melon guava, grapefruit, white blossom, textured richness. Both provide superb acidity delivering richness, structure and length, and provide the full Marlborough package when it comes to Sauvignon Blanc.
These vineyards are farmed sustainably through Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, with a long term view on biodiversity in the vineyard and proactive farming practices. These are from two very important growers that have been in the fold and growing grapes since the 1990’s – essentially pioneering there subregional styles. The Lower Wairau is beautiful silt loam notes close to the coast and fertile country, sheltered from the cooling south easterly, whilst the Dashwood bears the brunt of this south easterly and soils a little less fertile, so more citrus tomato leaf notes. The combination though is a perfect exposee of Marlborough and this variety Sauvignon Blanc.
