Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 'La Fussiere' Blanc Premier Cru
Members, this one has been leaving the shelf fast, and it's easy to see why. You get a Premier Cru white Burgundy for less than a village Puligny.
Premier Cru is Burgundy's step up from village wine: specific, named vineyards with a track record. La Fussière is the Bachelet brothers' flagship Premier Cru in Maranges, the village at the far southern end of the Côte de Beaune. Their Santenay Blanc comes mostly from Les Bras, the parcel right next door, so the two make a great side-by-side.
The grapes are farmed organically and fermented with native yeast, the wild yeast that arrives on the grapes from the vineyard, before 12 months in barrel.
