Ah, lovely Barbaresco… the Queen of Italian wine and all things good.
2017 was a warmer vintage so this wine has deep layers of dark plum, cassis, & marinated fig on the forefront. The deep fruit is followed up by layers of aniseed, tomato leaf, leather, and tobacco. The body is full and the finish is precise with a lingering dried violet quality that softens the focused, rustic tannins. (94pts Vinous and Wine & Spirits)
Enjoy with fresh Parmigiano Reggiano, meat dishes, particularly lamb and feathered game, or this Dried-Porcini-Mushroom Risotto with Goat Cheese.
