2021 Domaine Henri Boillot Bourgogne Blanc

Responsibly Farmed
Hidden Gem
Classic in Style

This Burgundy is really fine and bright. The grapes come from Meursault, Auxey-Duresse and Puligny-Montrachet. The flavor intensity is subtle and the use of oak is on point. It’s a well-balanced wine that doesn’t lean too heavy in any direction. I recently enjoyed this with pistachio crusted salmon and couscous. It was an excellent pairing!

Organic farming practices, hand-harvested and aged in 350 litre neutral French oak barrels for 18 months.

Domaine Henri Boillot represents the success that is born of hard work and determination. The Domaine, led by Henri Boillot himself, encompasses fifteen hectares of some of Burgundy’s top terroirs* in Puligny-Montrachet (including the famous 1er Cru monopole Clos de la Mouchère), Meursault, Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Grand Cru Batard-Montrachet and Clos Vougeot.

Since 2006, Henri’s son Guillaume, the 6th generation of the family, has joined him, demonstrating the same work ethic, passion and love for great wines. Combining their distinct personalities, father and son work together on the domaine. Both making great wines: Henri the whites, Guillaume the reds. Based in Meursault, Domaine Henri Boillot is strategically placed between Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, the two appellations that have become their specialty.

The Domaine dates back to 1885 and was previously called Domaine Jean Boillot, after Henri’s father. In 1996, Henri created Maison Henri Boillot and extended his range of appellations whilst dedicating himself to buying grapes only from the very best growers. It goes without saying that Henri would never jeopardise the image of his stellar Domaine. The Maison wines, therefore, are subject to the same care and attention to detail as the Domaine ensuring there is no difference in quality between the two. This is a strength that propelled Henri Boillot to be one of the most talented winemakers of his generation. In 2005 Henri bought his Father’s Domaine and since then, all the wines have been labelled either Domaine Henri Boillot or Henri Boillot and have shared the same label.
