Iacopo Alfeo is the 5th generation to run his family’s 150 acre farm in Castagneto Carducci. The property is very much so a working farm with multiple crops including grapevines, olive trees, peach orchards and animals. About 60 acres of the farm located in the Bolgheri doc terroir are 150 year old olive trees. These trees produce high-quality extra-virgin oil from pitted/unpitted olives. Ceralti is presently setting up some additional olive trees for experimental cultivation. New vineyards are also being planted, including some clones of local grapes, in cooperation with the Arezzo Experimental Research Centre for Viticulture.
Iacopo’s passion for viticulture is encouraged by his farms unique microclimate and geographic location. With its close proximity to the sea, the farm has a mixture of soil that is sandy, high in iron, and rich in salinity. Everything on the property is farmed organically and hand-harvested with the highest attention to detail. His aim is to produce the best products possible by respecting the natural territory around them. Iacopo believes that letting this crops coexist with the Holm Oak forest behind them and the Mediterranean shrub around them creates better quality products with unique characteristics.
