2022 Domaine Charles Audoin Bourgogne-Aligoté ‘Vieilles Vignes’

Responsibly Farmed
Hidden Gem
Classic in Style

This is a quiet power move at a dinner party. Pouring old-vine Aligoté from a serious, small Burgundy grower – instead of the obvious Chardonnay – instantly shows depth and confidence. And it backs it up: the wine moves effortlessly across the table, from seafood and salads to roast chicken and richer, buttery dishes, making you look thoughtful without trying too hard.

Certified organic farming practices (Ecocert), hand-harvested, native yeast fermentation in neutral barrel and aged for 12 months, no lees stirring or racking, unfined/unfiltered, vegan.

Domaine Charles Audoin is one of the key estates responsible for elevating Marsannay from an overlooked terroir to a respected appellation in the Côte de Nuits, especially since it only received its own AOC in 1987. Beginning in the 1970s, Charles Audoin expanded the family holdings from 2.5 to 14 hectares, carefully selecting top vineyard sites and raising quality standards; today, his son Cyril continues that legacy with traditional, elegance-focused winemaking and ongoing investment in the estate.

Now widely considered a benchmark producer for Marsannay, the domaine farms organically (Ecocert certified since 2018), practices sustainable viticulture (HVE3), and produces vegan wines — all with a strong environmental commitment that reflects both generations’ dedication to terroir and refinement.
