The Alma 4 project began in 1998–1999 when four lifelong friends—Agustín López, Mauricio Castro, Marcela Manini, and Sebastián Zuccardi—met at Mendoza’s Liceo Agrícola & Enológico School and decided to pioneer high‑altitude méthode champenoise sparkling wines in Argentina’s Uco Valley. Today, they produce five handcrafted cuvées from sustainably farmed vineyards between 1,300 and 1,550 meters above sea level, across subregions like Gualtallary, Tupungato, and Tunuyán. Their Blanc de Blancs, for instance, is notable for extended lees aging—up to 50 months en tirage—which contributes remarkable finesse, creamy texture, and vibrant, mineral-driven character—all at a fraction of the price of comparable Champagnes
