Domaine de la Butte is one of the most esteemed wineries in Bourgueil, Loire Valley, known for its elegant and terroir-driven Cabernet Franc. Founded by the late Jacky Blot, a visionary winemaker, the estate became a benchmark for organic viticulture and minimalist winemaking. Blot, who also gained fame for his work with Chenin Blanc at Domaine de la Taille aux Loups, believed in low-intervention farming, hand-harvesting, and natural fermentation to let the terroir shine. At Domaine de la Butte, he meticulously divided the vineyard based on elevation and soil composition, crafting wines that express the nuances of Bourgueil’s limestone and clay soils. Under his guidance, the estate became renowned for its pure, structured, and age-worthy Cabernet Francs, including the highly regarded “Le Pied de la Butte” and “Mi-Pente” bottlings. Even after his passing in 2023, Blot’s legacy endures, with his family continuing his commitment to precision, organic farming, and terroir expression, ensuring that Domaine de la Butte remains a pillar of Loire Valley excellence.
