2024 Bodega Cerron (Stratum Wines) Matas Altas Monastrell
The 2024 Bodega Cerrón (Stratum Wines) Matas Altas Monastrell is a biodynamic red wine from Jumilla, Spain, known for its focus on high-altitude, un-grafted old vines. This vintage is noted for being “fine-boned” and elegant, showcasing a move toward increased freshness and precision compared to previous years.
Bodega Cerrón is widely regarded as a pioneer of sustainable viticulture in Spain, organically certified since 1989 and fully biodynamic with Demeter certification as of 2021. This wine is mostly de-stemmed, fermented with native yeasts in open-top wooden vats, and aged for ~12 months in a mix of 500L–5000L French oak foudres and barrels. 94+ from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
